After six months of using Vanguard, I found its platform outdated and frustrating for active traders. It lags during market rushes, and the interface feels archaic. Basic features are hidden behind multiple menus, and even simple stock analysis tools slow to a crawl. Customer service confirmed that the platform is designed for long-term investors, not active traders. This explains the frequent technical issues.

Vanguard’s lack of transparency is another issue. Unexpected charges like a $32.50 fee were difficult to understand, and customer service often gave conflicting information. Their platform also limits diversification with a focus on Vanguard funds, which can be restrictive for traders seeking exposure to other markets.

The trading conditions are subpar with wide spreads and limited leverage options, which hinder profitability. The account opening process was slow, taking 17 days, and withdrawing funds takes 5-7 business days. In contrast, First ECN’s platform is much more responsive, offering tight spreads, fast execution, and transparent fees. Their account setup was completed in just 2 days.

Vanguard’s customer service is another downside, often slow and ineffective in resolving issues. First ECN excels here, with efficient support and prompt service.

In conclusion, while Vanguard might work for long-term investors, its platform is not suitable for active traders. First ECN, on the other hand, offers a more responsive, transparent, and user-friendly experience for those seeking better trading conditions.
