Robots are no longer just in factories or on film — they're creeping into our homes, schools, hospitals, and even our sidewalks. But are we truly prepared to coexist with robots on a daily basis?
Robots Are Everywhere Now
Earlier, robots were mainly applied in large factories to manufacture cars or other goods. But today, we have robot vacuum cleaners that sweep our floor, robot grass cutters that trim the lawn, and mini-robots that teach children how to code.
Food and packages are delivered by robots in some companies. Robots assist doctors and nurses in hospitals. Even robots assist students in learning new things in schools.
How Robots Can Help Us
Robots are able to do dull or difficult work for us. Robots can sweep, lift heavy objects, or assist the sick or the elderly. Some robots cleaned hospitals or delivered medicine to people during COVID-19.
In our homes, small robots such as Codey Rocky can assist children in learning how to construct and code things, which is enjoyable and beneficial to their future.
But There Are Some Problems Too
- Having robots around us is not always simple. We have to consider a few things:
- Privacy: There are robots with cameras and sensors. How do we protect our personal data?
- Jobs: Will robots steal some people's jobs? Or will they open up new types of jobs?
- Comfort: Are we comfortable with robots existing in our house? Do individuals feel comfortable conversing with or utilizing them?
- Money: Robots are very expensive. Will all people be able to buy them?
How Can We Be Ready?
In preparation for robots, we must understand how they work and how they can be used safely. Parents and teachers can teach children about robots and coding. Businesses and governments must create good regulations so robots can be safe and don't eliminate too many jobs.
Above all, let's not forget that robots are just machinery. They will assist us, not substitute our loved ones, friends, or human attention.
