Everyone has heard of the German autobahn and there are also some other roads very similar in The Isle of Man and even a highway in Australia’s Northern Territory which also has no Speed limits
Most countries however have some very series speed limits which can vary in cost massively.
Canada for instance has a national speed limit of just 60 mph while Poland and Bulgaria have a limit of up to 85mph. By far the worse place you can get fined however goes to Europe and one country in particular takes the gold. Finland has its own method where by if you get pulled by police they are able to check your income while on the side of the road. They will then issue a fine based on your salary.
In Oslo they will add 10% of your salary straight onto any speeding fine while Tokyo can land you with a mandatory driving lessons sentence, points, license suspension and loss of job if in a public office position.
In Tokyo, speeding could land drivers a mandatory traffic school sentence, points and their license suspended, and even being terminated if holding a public office job. And in Oslo, 10% of your annual income is added to your speeding ticket to deter speeders.
The first fine given was in 1896 for someone going 7mph.
