Most folks simply assume that "shareholders" and "stakeholders" are terms one can consider interchangeable. Let's make it clear right from the beginning: they're not.
A shareholder represents something more specific than a stakeholder, as you're about to find out.
Or, to put it differently. All shareholders are stakeholders but the same is NOT true the other way around :)
We'll start with the definition (meaning) of the two terms and then move on to example-backed explanations as to what shareholders and stakeholders actually are.
This one minute comparison should make it clear, once and for all, that this important distinction is not that difficult to understand. All it takes is a few examples and bam, you'll find it hard to believe just how easy it is to understand the distinctions between the two terms.
