This conversation between us friends started at a cafe. We had dropped in for some refreshments and fun after college.
As we were discussing old things…past sort of a vibe, one of my friends asked, “Do you remember our classmate who has crooked teeth and she uses metal wires?
At that moment, another friend jumped in saying, “Yeah..yeah, and whenever she smiles, we symbolise her with the witches of the novel Macbeth, by William Shakespeare?
We laughed out loud.
After that, he turned to me and said, “What are you laughing at? You’re going to get those wires put on, too, because your front teeth are completely crooked and you always have to hide them when you take photos!”
I had to admit to myself, “Hmmm… he’s right, I do have to cover my teeth every single time I think to take a picture.”
At that moment, the server who attended to us arrived with our order and spoke up,
“Who said that you have to use those old-style metal braces to get your teeth to the right position?
The Invisalign treatment is so popular these days…you can get your braces put on, yet they remain invisible to everyone else! And he showed his ones to us, and we are not able to recognise whether he had worn them or not.
I looked at him with eyes wide open. Are you kidding? Or is there really such a thing as getting treatment without the visible ones? He then said he too faced the same issue as mine, and when he went to his regular clinic for treatment, there, he learnt about this treatment.
I grew even more curious than before and asked him, "Tell me more, I also need this treatment."
According to him, he had his treatment at McCallum Dental, located in Langford, BC. He told me that this treatment is going to give me completely invisible braces and gave me his dentist, Dr. Neha’s, contact details.
I reached out to her and explained my issue.
After the first consult, she scanned my teeth and explained that a series of clear aligners would gradually move my teeth into place.
Even though I was very anxious and worried since it might be painful or I wouldn't get the required results, Dr. Neha politely explained everything to me and assured me that if I followed all the instructions, I would definitely see changes.
According to my dentist, I had to wear them for around 20-22 hours and change aligners every couple of weeks as my teeth adjusted slowly.
The dentist said I will see gradual changes over the months and will regain my smile. The key thing to remember is to wear your aligners consistently, maintain good oral hygiene, and not skip any appointments. All of these little things will help your treatment go smoothly.
Let's find out whether my teeth will ever be in the right position. Keep tuned in. I’ll keep you updated in my next post on whether this helped me or not.
